By sharing an experience, a skill or a story, you can touch another's life and improve a patient's care and healing.

AAWC's mission is to build a collaborative community to facilitate optimal care for the millions who suffer with wounds. We believe in the multidisciplinary approach to care, one that includes the entire healthcare team, including patients and their lay-caregivers. This means everyone working together toward common goals and objectives based on the latest advances and knowledge in wound care technology and practice, while keeping compassion for the human experience at the forefront of our minds. We encourage all of our members to join us in our mission by taking a proactive role in the organization as a mentor and/or mentee.

You can take a proactive role in your career or your care by communicating with fellow members. If you are involved in wound care on any level, or if you or a loved one has a wound, AAWC has a forum for you to learn and give through the upcoming AAWC Mentorship Program. Whether you are a clinician, a patient or a lay-caregiver, you can learn from those who have been in a similar clinical situation or who have dealt with similar wounds. You can also help someone else by sharing your experiences. Within the AAWC community, anyone can be both a mentor and a mentee. We learn best from one another’s first hand, personal experiences and varied depths of knowledge. AAWC is inclusive and does not exclude anyone from membership based on discipline, credentialing status, practice setting, location or type of wound. Because of this, we are able to provide increased abilities for mentorship and networking - learning and sharing.

AAWC is proud to bring people with common (or perhaps different) interests, challenges, and needs together in order to improve their knowledge and create professional relationships that will enhance their AAWC experience. The AAWC Mentoring Program is coming soon and will be available to AAWC Members only through the Members Only Area of this website. Until then, please use you networking directory to find someone in your area and/or area of interest, and begin communicating today!
